Windsor Park work well underway

THE depths of winter might be approaching, but we are already looking forward to next season at Windsor Park as progress continues apace on the revamped changing and pavilion area.

To ensure the work is completed in good time for next season, demolition of the old bar was completed just days after the final game of the 2013 season.

That game, a home first team clash against Fleetwood, was marked by a special celebration by the senior spectators who enjoyed a glass of wine as they said goodbye to the old bar, which was their regular vantage point.

Following demolition, work began on the foundations of the new facilities, and this has now been completed with the next phase, the actual building work, already well underway.

This phase is ongoing and though completion date is dependent on the weather, the club is confident the work will be completed well before the eagerly anticipated 2014 season begins.

The project, which when completed will ensure Chorley Cricket Club will be among the best in the county with regards to such facilities, was made possible by our successful application for a grant under the Inspired Facilities scheme.

However, under the terms of the grant, we had to raise £18,000 ourselves, and our ‘Buy-a Brick’ campaign was launched during last season.

This has proved very successful and a number of other events such as the Evening with Cricket Australia chief James Sutherland in summer and the more recent Christmas Draw and Quiz Evening have also provided major boosts to our fundraising efforts.

However, we still have some way to go so any further ‘Buy a Brick’ donations or pledges would be gratefully received. Please contact the club or any official for details.

Many thanks for your support so far.

We will keep you posted on progress on the project via this website, and also on our efforts to complete the signing of a new professional for next season, which are also continuing.

Please use the contact form on this website if you have any comments/fundraising suggestions.

Finally, a reminder the club is open on every weekday evening throughout the winter and all members are welcome.
