Blanket rain swept over Windsor Park this week to steal the first game of the season after what had set out to be a glorious week. The first XI visited Kendal only to promptly turn around and make the journey back down the M6 without a ball being bowled. They were met by Ian Mawsdsleys Second XI who had suffered a similar fate, an early tea and a heavy shower end the 2nd team game and Chorley 3rd XI had to settle for no result after battling through 25 overs in the cold, David Edwards making a rapid 50 before that game too fell to the weather. Sunday and Monday saw better days with Steve Critchleys Sunday XI remaining undefeated with a comprehensive victory at Withnell Fold and the bank holiday fixture saw the second team take victory over Darwen however the first XI were outplayed and again had to settle for defeat, a sentence that is becoming all to familiar to readers of the Chorley reports. |
