CHORLEY UNDER 10's TRIUMPH AGAIN
 
Chorley under 10's cricket team retained their Palace Shield title in a fantasic days cricket at South Shore Cricket Club.

Chorley qualified for finals day by finishing top of the league and were drawn to play Thornton Cleveleys on a windy morning on the Fylde coast in the semi final.

Batting first, Chorley found in difficult to come to terms with the windy conditions and lively pitch, starting on 200 they struggled to 238 for 7 off their 20 overs. With only Harry Barclay (13) getting to double figures.

Chorley knew that they must bowl and field well if they were to restrict the opposition and they did just that with some fine straight bowling and ground fielding. Thornton Cleveleys could only manage 228 for 8 in reply with Ravi Dhar taking 2 wickets.

After an excellent lunch Chorley were keen to take to the field in the final against Vernon Carus who won the toss and elected to bat.

What followed was a magnificent display of bowling, catching and fielding from the Chorley youngsters. Starting on 200 and losing 5 for every wicket lost, Vernon Carus ended their 20 overs on 197. Ravi Dhar bowled remarkably taking a hat-trick in his second over, with each ball taking middle stump out of the ground much to the delight of watching brother Gurav. Evie Barclay and Joe Morrall also took 2 wickets each and Joe Barker took a stunning catch which brought the crowd to their feet.

Chorley only needed to bat sensibly in reply and were given a great start with a 35 run opening partnership between Bradley Sibson (15) and Ravi Dhar (13). Harry Barclay again scored 13 in the middle order and Chorley ended on 253, winning by 56 runs.

It has been a great season for the youngest of Chorley's teams who hopefully have a long and happy cricketing career ahead of them.
